Dear Students,
Topics included in the Economic Science are broad. As in other fields, Economics aims to explain events and behaviors observed in real life, to develop a cause and effect relation between the events and to predict the future scientifically. In this manner, an economist needs to use both “deduction” and “induction” methods to “predict” the economic developments and to make the right decisions with the aim of reducing the risks. Thus, a well qualified economist should have a good theoretical and quantitative (statistics, econometric, matrix algebra etc.) knowledge and an abiltiy to analyze and apply the techniques. An economist qualified with these features tests the validity of the scientific hypotheses, theorems and models in a certain respect and trust; and by introducing new ones she contributes to the scientific developments.
I wish prospective students who wish to get education in our department at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels to have abstract and analytical thinking ability in the relevant fields.
None of us should doubt that a well qualified education will provide prestige and individual, social, universal benefits!
